Feed Privacy Options
We understand that no two ministries are exactly the same, and prayer requests are handled differently from community to community. We take privacy very seriously, and want to give you the control you need to make Feeds work best in your context.
There are three different privacy options for a feed:
——
Public Feed
Ideal For: Most churches and ministries. Ideal for ministries who want a public presence and want their community to be able to find and follow them immediately and with ease.
What it means practically: Public feeds show up in Echo’s feed search, and any Echo user can immediately follow and have access to the feed’s prayer list. Feed admins still have the ability to remove and block followers from following their feed, but anyone has access to follow.
Public Feed (with approval)
Ideal For: Churches or ministries who want control over who has access to their prayer list, but still want people to be able to easily find and share their feed.
What it means practically: Public feeds (with approval) still show up in Echo’s feed search, but people are only allowed to follow the feed if they have been approved by an admin of the feed. Once someone has requested to follow a feed, the admin sees their request and has the chance to approve or deny access to the feed. If a follower is accepted, they get a notification and the feed immediately shows up in their feed list. If a user is denied access, the request is immediately removed from your follower request queue, and there is no notification sent to the requester.
Private Feed
Ideal For: Missionaries or ministries that want to remain out of the general public’s view, but still want to be able to manage a prayer list for those in their network. Missionaries in closed countries and closed groups of people are ideal for this privacy setting.
What it means practically: Private feeds do not show up in Echo’s feed search, and are only available when someone shares the unique URL. When someone requests to follow, an admin must approve that follower. All the same rules from Public Feeds (with approval) apply to private feeds (see above).
